What is the PTO?
PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, consisting of parents, staff and administrators working together to support and enrich all students. As a school of choice, we receive less funding than a traditional public school. We count on PTO funds and parent volunteers to make up the difference. Our objective is to provide our school with exciting events, effective resources and impactful services which will maximize the educational experience of every child and benefit the school.
Who Can Be a Member?
Every Cornerstone parent, staff member and teacher is automatically a member of the PTO! There are no dues or membership fees. In fact, Parental Involvement is one of our three foundational pillars at Cornerstone, so it is imperative that we all work together and invest our time to ensure the success of our school community.
how is the pto funded?
The PTO is primarily funded through ONE main fundraiser each year, and a couple passive fundraisers, which make up our “Nest Egg”:
1. NEST EGG ANNUAL FUND: a simple, direct donation to the PTO. Unlike selling fundraisers in which we only garner a small percentage of the profits, 100% of Nest Egg Donations will directly impact our students.
2. PASSIVE FUNDRAISING: Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods or Box Tops.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED?
There’s a Place for Everyone!
Every family has something valuable to contribute to the CCA PTO. Whether you have an hour occasionally, enjoy helping from home, or want to join a committee, your time, ideas, and talents make a difference.
You do not have to attend meetings to be involved.
As a K–12 school community, we understand that families have different schedules. Help as a lunch parent, support Character Education, volunteer at school events, or helping behind the scenes with planning, organizing, and fundraising. No experience is necessary we can help you learn and find a role that fits your availability.
Have an idea for a new event, a grant opportunity, a club you’d like to support, or a project you’re passionate about? Reach out! We welcome constructive ideas and helping hands, and we can work together to explore what’s possible for our students and school.
Meetings & Staying Connected
Our regular PTO meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m. We also offer select evening meetings approximately 30 minutes before school events, usually at 5:30 p.m. Please check the posted meeting schedule for specific dates and times.
